What sits behind the brief.
Venturis uses open and derived data to support London location research. Every paid report should include source notes and caveats relevant to the requested business type.
Current source families
- OpenStreetMap and Overture Maps for business/place competition context.
- ONS Census and related official context layers for population and demand proxies.
- TfL/PTAL and transport context where available for mobility/access proxies.
- GLA high-street and commercial activity context where available.
- Food Standards Agency data where relevant to food and hospitality categories.
- Derived area scores generated by the Venturis scoring pipeline.
Limitations
Open data can be stale, incomplete, inconsistent, duplicated, or missing. Venturis deduplicates and normalises where possible, but the output is not a complete market census.
Attribution
Source-specific attribution is maintained in the product credits and report notes. The commercial beta must not use sources where storage, transformation, display, or commercial use is unclear.
Freshness
Category and context freshness depends on update schedules and upstream publication cycles. Paid outputs should show source freshness or caveats where the data is weak.
